Imagine a dimly lit motel lounge, circa 1990s, with neon lights flickering intermittently. Dusty velvet curtains hang loosely across a makeshift stage, and the air is filled with the echo of poorly sung pop songs. It's karaoke night at the Lucky Star Motel, a beloved but rundown establishment at the edge of a small town. The mood is spirited yet slightly awkward as the guests, a motley crew of locals and out-of-towners, clutch their songbooks and wait for their turn at the microphone. Everyone is there for a night of fun, unaware that the evening will end in tragedy. The room was suddenly silenced by a high-pitched scream. The lights flickered to black, and when they were restored, the body of the motel manager, Marty Malone, was found lying lifeless on the stage, microphone in hand. Panic ensued, with guests shouting accusations and questions. The horror of the situation was compounded by the realization that the murderer was among them, someone who had perhaps clapped along to the dreadful tunes just moments before. As the guests are reluctantly confined to the motel due to a raging storm outside, old grudges and hidden alliances surface. Whispers of past betrayals and long-held secrets circulate, as each character tries to deflect suspicion onto another. With trust in short supply, and the fear of another murder looming, the stakes rise. Only by solving the mystery can they find peace and, perhaps, survive the night.
A failed rock star with a penchant for drama. Motive: To stop the blackmail and silence Marty forever. Alibi: Claims he was fixing the sound system when the lights went out.
